Carley McHenry is a practicing artist living and working in Rochester, MN. Working mostly in acrylic and oil painting, her current work explores the human body and psyche with a surreal twist. Carley received her BFA in 2013 from the University of Wisconsin- Stout while also studying for a minor in photography.
Carley also hate's talking about herself in the third person, so let's drop that! Some highlights of my artistic journey thus far have been working with Make A Wish Minnesota on a collaboration with a young artist for the Wish Ball annual fundraising event, and enjoying time at two artist residencies at Artscape Gibraltar Point in Toronto, and La Macina Di San Cresci in Greve in Chianti Italy. Currently I am working on a series of oil paintings (to be named) that focus on the human body as a representation of different interactions that either I have personally experienced, or someone close to me has experienced. These interactions include ideas of connections to nature, family, and one's own psyche. Also some fun facts! I enjoy my ever growing yoga practice (now at the point where I don't fall on my face as much), my animal friends including a peppy young dog, a very needy cat, an escape artist bunny, and a few happy goat boys, and my future plans to see the world one country at a time. Drop me a note! I love to read them! |
